Let's talk about progressive pants

For us, progressive pants are a love story, both for my 10 month old baby and my almost 4 year old big boy. It's wonderful, since it allows me to test the greatness, again and again!

It's so easy to put on (hello baby who squirms and constantly wants to turn around)! In addition, it is a gift of choice for baby showers, a gift idea that moms will love every time .

Let's talk about the different types of pants , their characteristics and their sizes. It's not always easy to find your way around, despite the size charts.

I know we shouldn't compare children, but here, I'm going to do it for the sake of argument:

Leo - he is almost 4 years old and normally wears 3T-4T in supermarket pants. He has long legs and a very small waist. Very often, the pants are a good length (4T), but the size is really too big. This is my shallot.

Émile - he is 10 months old and normally wears 12 month (sometimes even 18 month) pants in supermarket pants. He has short legs, but a good butt. He is 50th percentile for weight and 30th percentile for height. It's my little chunky one.

On the store (and in my patterns), there are 4 types of scalable pants:

1. The Comfort Evolutionary Pants

It's a must. The band at the waist and those at the ankles can be folded down, the pants grow with the child. The soft fabrics also offer great elasticity, which means that the child is free to move. These are ideal pants for babies wearing reusable diapers since there is no seam in the center of the pants.

AVAILABLE SIZES: 0-12 MONTHS, 1-3T and 3-5T

Leo doesn't wear it. The 1-3T is too short for him and the 3-5T is too loose at the hips and waist.

Émile wears 0-12 months. He could take the 1-3T, but it would be very loose for him.

2. The Evolutionary Lounge Pants

These pants also have the fold-over waist band and calves. However, it is more fitted to the hips and buttocks.

AVAILABLE SIZES : 6-18 MONTHS, 12-36 MONTHS, 2-3T & 4-5T

Leo wears 4-5T. As the hips are more fitted, the pants fit him well.

Émile wears the 12-36 months, it is more suitable for his good thighs.

3. The Evolutionary Bamboo Harem Pants

I love these pants for several reasons. I have a baby who fidgets a lot and is constantly trying to move. Made mostly from bamboo fiber, it's very stretchy and quick to put on. It is also possible to adjust the size and ankle bands.

These are pants that offer plenty of room for diapering and movement.

AVAILABLE SIZES: 0-12 MONTHS, 12-24 MONTHS AND 2-3T.

Leo doesn't wear it. It's too loose for him. With his slender appearance, he prefers more fitted pants.

Émile wears the 0-12 months more fitted and the 12-24 looser.

4. The Evolutionary Jogger Pants with Pockets

These pants are the most fitted of all. With its elastic waistband, it is ideal for older children. The cut at the hips and legs is skinnier. These are pants less suitable for babies with good reserves.

Children like it very much because of its small pockets in the front. Perfect pants for hiding little treasures.

AVAILABLE SIZES: 0-3 MONTHS, 3-9 MONTHS, 12-24 MONTHS, 2-3T

Léo wears the 4-5T which is not available in the store at the moment. He likes his joggers for playing at daycare or for working outside with Dad.

Émile wears 12-24 months. It's a little long for him, but it has plenty of room for his pussy and his diaper. I can simply fold down the calf bands to shorten the pants.

SOME QUESTIONS THAT COME BACK FROM TIME TO TIME

Can 0-12 months be done from birth?

It is very relative since some babies will be able to wear it and others not. Evolutionary pants are often very loose and the baby may float a little in them at first. On the other hand, there is no doubt that they will do so in the first weeks by adjusting the evolutionary bands.

Why are there few large sizes in the store?

In all honesty, these are sizes that I sell less. So, I prefer to save the fabrics for the best sellers. However, several mothers have gotten into the habit of contacting me directly to get pants in the desired size. I am always happy to make special orders.

What are the ideal developmental pants for a baby?

Harem pants and Comfort. My favorites for minis. The Lounge is good too. The Jogger with Pockets is good too, but it is less scalable for toddlers because of its elastic band.

And the oldest, say 2 years and over?

As soon as the child starts to wear underwear, Lounge pants and Joggers with Pockets are more suitable. They are less roomy at the hips.
